A Small Studio, Shaped by Hand
Every piece that carries The Unique Touch begins on a wheel in a small studio in Amersfoort, the Netherlands, then finds its way to homes across the world.
From Marrakech to a Wheel of Her Own
Hind is the maker behind every piece. She grew up in Marrakech, surrounded by artisans shaping clay, carving wood, and weaving textiles in the narrow streets of the souks. Everything was made with patience, by hand, and she loved watching how something simple could become something beautiful. That feeling stayed with her, even years later when she was working an office job in the Netherlands. It paid the bills, but it wasn't the kind of work that made her feel connected to what she was doing.
Moving to the Netherlands actually gave her the space to come back to that feeling. She started trying clay out just for fun, and it slowly turned into something more serious. She spent years learning, making mistakes, and figuring out her own way of working. No molds, no stamps, just her hands and the wheel. That's still how every piece is made today. Each one is shaped and painted individually, so no two ever turn out quite the same.
A Family Business
Hind shapes and glazes every piece herself, but The Unique Touch has never really been a one-person project. It became a family effort.

She shapes, paints, and glazes every piece in the studio. Sometimes she comes along to a market herself, so if you visit at the right time, you might get to meet the person who actually made what you're holding.
At the Markets
Dylan & Christiaan
You'll usually find Dylan and Christiaan running the stall on market days. They set up, wrap up purchases, and tell customers the stories behind the pieces while Hind keeps working back at the studio in Amersfoort.
From Clay to Finished Piece
Every piece goes through the same slow process, whether it's a mug or a pair of earrings.
Shaping
Raw clay is shaped by hand on the wheel or built up piece by piece. No molds, no stamps, every shape starts from scratch.
Drying
Each piece rests and dries slowly before it's ready for the kiln. Rushing this step is how pieces crack, so we don't.
Bisque Firing
A first trip through the kiln hardens the clay into bisque, sturdy enough to handle but still porous enough to take on glaze.
Glazing
Colors and patterns are painted on by hand, one piece at a time. This is where the small variations come from that make each piece one of a kind.
Glaze Firing
A second, final trip through the kiln melts the glaze into a smooth, hardened finish, ready to be used and held for years.
Caring for Your Piece
- Hand wash with warm water and a mild soap, this keeps hand-painted details looking their best over time.
- Avoid sudden temperature changes, like going straight from the freezer to the oven, as this can cause cracking.
- Small variations in shape, color, or texture aren't flaws, they're proof your piece was shaped by hand, not a mold.
- For jewelry, avoid contact with perfume or lotion where possible, and store pieces somewhere they won't knock against harder jewelry.
